Linear Shafting

Motion Components & Services linear shaft is used for the linear ball bearings. Shafting is available in standard L, S, and N tolerance in addition to metric ISO h6, h5, and g6 tolerance. Shafting is available from ¼ inch to 4 inch in diameter and in metric sizes from 3 mm to 180 mm.

The linear shaft is induction hardened to a consistent depth. This consistency insures less scrap and reduced set up times for each job. Each shaft is induction hardened to a precise case depth and 60 Rockwell (60HRC) hardness.

Surface finish is important for long lasting bearings. MCS shaft has a surface finish of 8 μin Ra to provide smooth operation and longer bearing life.

The shafting is available as standard 60 HRC, chrome plated, or in 440C stainless. Additional materials not used for linear ball bearings are also available in 1045, 1045 chrome plated, 1045 induction hardened, 303 stainless, 304 stainless, and 316 stainless steel.
